Write an initial response to the following key question(s) or prompt(s):
As the quotation below from the French AFD reveals, an example of a group of labors in low-cost countries who have long been deprived of equal pay for equal work are women.
The figures speak for themselves: 70% of people living on less than a dollar a day are women, as are two-thirds of illiterates. In certain countries, 50% of women are victims of violence. Women produce 50% of food and two-thirds of global labor, but only earn 10% of incomes. Women are discriminated against in all areas of society: employment, education, health, and governance. Yet they contribute to the development of countries through their work. A number of studies have demonstrated that reducing gender inequalities contributes to the equitable and sustainable development of countries.
Go to the ADF site to see the French governments gender and development strategies. Reflect on the data in the quote above and on Frances strategies to combat these violations of compensatory justice as you respond to the Key Questions.
What are specific ethical pitfalls that underlie the French mitigation strategies?
How can your company leverage concessions from offshore providers to ensure progress in mitigating these pitfalls?
Which virtues would your companys leadership need to demonstrate in order to accept responsibility to better these workers situations and to implement mitigation strategies for the ethical inequities?
Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain, and The worker deserves his wages.. Verse 17, preceding this one, discussed the Elders in the church who do their work and should be well paid for that, since they are teaching and preaching. Faithful church leaders should be supported and appreciated (Tyndale, 2007, p. 1934).

NORTHBRIDGE – Town Manager Mark H. Rees believes he made “significant progress” over the past year
accomplishing many of the tasks that the Board of Selectmen assigned him.
In his yearly report submitted to the board this month, Rees outlined his progress on a variety of projects, ranging
from a new personnel system to union contract negotiations. But it is clear from the report – and the board’s recent
evaluation of his performance – that his forte is in fiscal matters.
Last year, he wrote, he saved the town $26,000 in property and liability insurance premiums; converted payroll,
property tax and excise tax duties to the new computer system, saving $10,000 annually; helped reduce legal and
short-term borrowing expenses and stabilized health insurance costs.
He also mentioned the approval of four debt exclusions this spring, marking the first time Northbridge residents
voluntarily increased their property taxes. Budgets were alloted for the library, Council on Aging, Recreation
Department and the street light account; money was put in the stabilization fund for the first time in several years,
and the town’s free cash actually amounted to a significant number.
“When I first came in, we had a revenue deficit,” Rees said, meaning the town was spending more than it was
collecting. “The next two years we had a free cash deficit. Then we brought it (the free cash account) up to
$10,000. Now it’s up to $215,000.”
Rees did not take sole responsibility for the town’s financial improvement. “These objectives were not
accomplished by me sitting behind my desk,” he said. “It was with town department heads and employees working
together.”
Other tasks Rees worked on over the past year included:
Finding a solution to the dilemma posed by having both a municipal and a private water system. A consultant
studied the issue and recommended that the town purchase the Whitinsville Water Co. Preliminary negotiations

Overhauling the personnel system, including policies, the wage and classification plan, the evaluation system and

This article discusses how to establish better study habits while stressing less. There were lots of good ideas in this article. One of the ideas that is perhaps most useful is to make use of ordinary time. For example, while washing the dishes, I can think about a paper that I am going to write later this evening. This would allow me to come up with creative ideas, while leisurely thinking about the upcoming project. By the time I get to the project, I will complete it quicker and because the project was well thought out, it would probably be better too. I streamlined my efforts and made dish washing a bit more interesting.
Note: The above is an example from a student looking to enhance performance, while reducing stress.
To find your goal, think of one thing that you would like to accomplish over the next year. It does not have to be something very intense to be valuable.
For example, you may decide you wish to drink 8 glasses of water a day or you may decide that you are going to journal for ten minutes a day. Remember, no matter how small the goal, with tiny steps a great deal can be accomplished in one year. One year of proper hydration will change the appearance of hair and skin, will increase metabolism, support kidney and liver functions, and enhance athletic performance. The list of benefits goes on and on. Journaling for only 10 minutes a day has been shown to enhance feelings of relaxation and interconnectedness.
Studies have shown that simply keeping a gratitude journal and writing in it daily, can improve reported levels of happiness.
